Background:

The Egyptian American Medical Association (EAMA) strongly believes that actions speak loader than words. Few months after its establishment in 2013 EAMA created the Sponsorship committee with the primary goal of sponsoring promising medical graduates of Egyptian decent who wish to pursue educational and research opportunities in the United States.

It is not a secret that getting accepted in to a residency training program in the United States is a lengthy and tasking process. It starts with the United States Medical License Examination (USMLE) series, followed by the lengthy process of applying to various residency programs, travelling for interviews and settling down in a new country. Beside the tremendous physical and emotional effort involved, this process costs roughly a total of $ 11, 700 (82,000 Egyptian pounds).

Our goal is making the dream of advanced training in the US a reality though providing academic and financial sponsorship for promising candidates. In 2013 we raised $23,000, all of which have been loaned directly to 7 sponsored applicants to help with residency match, exams and travel expenses. We have also assisted other applicants attain residency and research positions by providing academic mentorship. Our sponsored applicants have matched in various academic institutions in clinical and research positions all over the US.
